Tiger electrocuted in Shimoga

SUDDEN END: The carcass of the tiger that was electrocuted.
SHIMOGA: A tiger was found dead on Wednesday in a plantation maintained by the Forest Department adjacent to a paddy field at Lakkinakoppa near Umblebylu in Shimoga taluk.
It is suspected to have died after coming in contact with a live wire used to fence a paddy field. The field is owned by Chinne Gowda.
It was stated that the power to the fence was from the connection taken for the irrigation pump set.
It is said that the land was taken on lease by Narayanappa from Chinne Gowda to cultivate paddy. He had placed an electric fence around the paddy field to avoid the menace of wild animals.
Nails missing
It was said that the nails of the animal were found missing, giving rise to suspicion that they could have been extracted soon after the carcass was noticed and before it was shifted to the adjacent land belonging to the Forest Department.
The Rural police here have registered a case against three persons who are suspected to have removed the nails of the animal.
Forest officials visited the spot.
