Located amid th foothills of the eastern Himalayas, the park is the
only tiger reserve of its kind in all of the North East, and contains
the highest number of protected endangered species including 55 mammals
like the Asian Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Clouded Leopard.
There are over 450 species of birds including the threatened Bengal
Florican, Great Pied and Wreathed Hornbill, Common Green Magpie,
Jerdon’s Baza and Collard Falconet. This park has an amazing diversity
of butterflies and orchids too.
A second trip, to Sunderbans offers one the chance to experience
India’s mangrove forests, home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, as well as the
Saltwater Crocodile and the Water Monitor Lizard.
