MUMBAI: People For Animals (PFA) is doing Mumbai's first ever radio fundraiser
for animals on RadioCity on October 31 and November 1 from 9 am to
11am. ``The concept of a TV or radio fundraiser is very common in the
West. This is the first time it will be taking place in Mumbai. Maneka
Gandhi, Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman
all of whom are vegetarians and animal lovers will be on the show
promoting animal rights and encouraging people to donate to animal
welfare. It's amazing so many people support animal welfare and are open to these fun new ways of fundraising!'' said Ambika Hiranandani of PFA.
She added that these funds will go towards our large animals and wildlife rescues. The radio jockeys Salil and Archana are both animal lovers.
People For Animals is India's largest animal welfare organization with a nationwide network of 26 hospitals, 165 units and 2.5 Lakh members.
PFA is now setting up in Maharashtra. Its trustees are Pritish Nandy, Rtd. Chief Justice A. P. Shah, Nisha Jamwal, Poonam Mahajan, Nand Hiranandani and Ambika. PFA is already doing a lot of work in Maharashtra: such as campaigning for a ban on the horse carriages, stopping illegal slaughter, we have shut down 6 illegal slaughterhouses in Maharashtra, we have an on going out reach programme with kids in school to get them to go vegetarian and adopt a stray dog and run a column in the mid day for adopting a stray or abandoned pet.
