Reports said it appears that the leopard was hit by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road. It suffered injuries on the waist and the legs and was unable to move.

It will be initially treated at the Guijan wildlife range and then shifted to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation in Kaziranga," said B Baruah, the ranger of Dibrugarh forest division.

A person named Gopal Keot was injured after he was attacked by the big cat when he tried to get too close to it.
