7 peacocks killed by poachers in Barmer in Jaipur
Yadav said that when the villagers questioned them, both poachers admitted that they gave poisonous feed to the peacocks.
Confirming the incident, Barmer DFO SR Yadav said that this incident took place at the border of Atakora village on Jalore route in Barmer district. The two men who were caught poaching, Khema Ram and Budha Ram, are residents of Sindhari.
Yadav said that when the villagers questioned them, both poachers admitted that they gave poisonous feed to the peacocks. After receiving the information from the villagers, the DFO reached the spot and began investigation into the matter. Yadav said that poachers were very notorious and were active in poaching. The post mortem of the peacocks was done on the spot and they were buried there. The postmortem report also stated that the death of these peacocks was due to poisonous feed.
In the Chinkara poaching incident that occurred in the Baytu area of Barmer two weeks ago, two poachers have been caught by the police from Phalsoond area in Jaisalmer district but the entire case is still not solved. Earlier, in the month of January in Jaisalmer, poachers opened fire at two godawans out of which one died while the other godawan managed to escape.
