Chasnala residents face water woes

SINDRI: Residential area near Chasnala colliery are facing sever water crisis after the submersible pump, which supplied water to households here, became non-functional last month.

People have to walk a long distance to the closed mine to fetch water for regular use. This is because groundwater level in Kandra Neemtalla village near the eastern quarry of Chasnala colliery has depleted to such an extent that hand-pumps or wells are difficult to set up.

The colliery management installed the submersible pump that supplied water to all households in the nearby area. But it developed snag in November 18.

But villagers say bringing water from the closed mine is risky as there is always a chance of wall collapse.
