Sloth bear crushed under jeep in Deesa

A sloth bear which had entered a field and injured two villagers was
crushed under a jeep in Latiya village in Deesa taluka of Bansakantha
district on Sunday.
According to range forest officer (RFO) A N Ghasura, the bear had attacked one Nasabhai Rawal and his wife. Their nephew was taking them to a hospital in Deesa for treatment. However, the bear suddenly came in front of the vehicle carrying the injured persons and died on the spot, he added.
Deputy conservator of forests and wildlife, Banaskantha, G V Vyas said the department will conduct a proper inquiry to find out the bear died in the accident or it was deliberately crushed.
There are 75 sloth bears in Banaskantha, as per the recent census.
