LMC bid to douse Lonar forest fire fails
AKOLA: The raging forest fire is continuing on the third day on Sunday near Salt Lake at Lonar in Buldhana district, said officials, and eye witness sources.
The fire was noticed around noon on Thursday. Efforts were made to extinguish the fire by forest department as well as Lonar Municipal Council, but in vain. Now, officials fear the fire may cause danger to wildlife and the forest. Medicinal plants in area are reduced to ashes.
Tehsildar Vishwanath Ghuge, president of Lonar Municipal Council, Baliram Mapari and several other civil and police officials are making strenuous efforts to extinguish the fire. The reason behind the raging fire is still unknown.
