Poacher arrested from Nalsarovar sent to judicial custody
AHMEDABAD: Bhupat Bava Chapra, the poachers arrested from Nalsarovar was sent to Judicial custody
by Viramgam, court. The forest department had arrested Bhupa from
Nalsarovar area and recovered migratory birds and a net which was used
to trap them.
This is the third such incident in the past six months and the second one after November. T Karuppasamy, deputy conservator of forest, said that acting on a tip-off, a watch was kept in the area. At 4am, Bhupat Bava Chapra was arrested with migratory birds. Karuppasamy said a team of 18 officials was required to catch the poacher.
He said that the modus operandi was simple. Bhupat would set up a net near the lake and would go to the other side where he would make noises disturbing the birds. As they took the flight, the net would trap them.
Officials said in order to trap Bhupat and not leave any scope for him to run away, he was cordoned off from all side. However, as he tried to escape he was caught.
Forest officials said that this was the second incident since November last year. Six poachers were arrested with birds and a turtle and other animals from the same area. Bhupat was produced in a viramgam court late on Saturday evening.
